Welcome to the website! We hope you are considering making Milan First United Methodist your home church. We promise not to overwhelm you with calls and visits if you decide to attend one or more of our services. We are not a high-pressure church and we don't believe in"badgering"people until they say "uncle" about joining! Fair enough? However, we don't want to "fall off a cliff" on the other extreme! So, we want you to know we are interested in you. Whether you are new to the area or have been in the area all your life and are just beginning your Christian journey, it is our belief that Milan First United Methodist is a congregation you will want to know better. About us: We have a great representation of all age groups from the cradle to the most senior of senior citizens! At about 750 members, we are a sizable United Methodist congregation, but we are not so large that you can get lost. Milan First has a long history of service to this community. You'll find various theological viewpoints here-all along the spectrum-coexisting very well together. Many of our members are prominent leaders and people of influence in the region, but we're also normal folks who are trying to be faithful to our Lord and live a life worthy of the gospel. You will find a certain"openness" of spirit and a graceful, forgiving atmosphere in this church. Most importantly, we are a people who take the teachings of the Old and New Testaments very seriously. We provide opportunities for teaching and learning for folks at various stages of their Christian walk. We welcome you to visit often.
We encourage you to participate in the sacrament of Holy Communion (first Sunday of each month). You are not required to be a member of this church to receive communion. If you are a new Christian or have never been baptized in a church, please ask to meet with Pastor Dan to discuss the significance and importance of this event. If you are moving your membership from another church or denomination, we will be glad to contact that congregation and request your letter of membership on your behalf. In our United Methodist understanding, we believe that baptism is not to be repeated when you join a new fellowship and so we do not require any baptized believer to be re-baptized. All we ask is that you would renew your commitment to Christ and pledge to uphold this congregation by your prayers, your presence, your gifts and your service! Our Church staff is always available to schedule a meeting with you-over lunch or a cup of coffee or at the church-to discuss your particular situation and answer any questions you may have. We'd love to have you as part of the Milan First family!
