Ages 3 years to 4th grade Power Xpress for Children
Come join us for a High-Voltage Bible experience. Experience a new way of learning each week as you discover and explore the Bible through one of six ways. The children rotate between Art, Science, Bible Story, Cookery, Games, and Video visiting a new station each week. We begin a new session every 6 weeks. Come join us on Wednesday nights from 6:00 pm-7:00pm. Parents, sign your children in, drop them off, and pick them up in the Chapel. Our 3 Age Groups are 3, 4, 5 year olds & Kindergarteners, 1st & 2nd Graders, and 3rd & 4th Graders. The next six-week session of Power Xpress begins on Wednesday, March 10 at 6:00pm. It is called “Symbols of Holy Week.” The story of Holy Week will be told using symbols to help the children comprehend and tell others the story of the last days of Jesus’ life. Traditionally, our young people at Milan First United Methodist Church go through Confirmation in 6th grade, however; due to the small number of 6th graders attending and the even smaller number of 5th graders we have chosen to combine the two for our 2009-2010 Confirmation Year. Parents: Are You Interested In Giving Of Your Time To Help With God's Children? WE COULD USE YOU! If you have a special place for children in your heart, we have a job for you. Don't feel comfortable teaching? That's ok, you don't have to! We need volunteers on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings. For those of you who want to help, but aren't yet comfortable teaching.... we need Mentors and Floaters for Wednesday nights 5:50-7pm. Mentors meet with their specified age group in the chapel each week. They sit with their age group and keep them quiet and their attention focused as they view "The Gathering". You then lead your age group up to their station for that week. Once you get to that station take 3-5 minutes and ask those children about their weeks. Anything going on at home or school they want to share? Anyone whom they know that may need prayer? You then say a short prayer for these children and their prayer concerns. The Presenter will then teach their lesson for that week-you simply assist them if needed, helping pass out supplies, wash hands, etc. After the lesson, you take your group of children back down to the Chapel and keep them focused for "The Closing". This is a commitment of 1 hour and 10 minutes a week, for 6 weeks. We need Floaters! You are responsible for going around to each of the stations during the time frame and assisting the presenter or mentors as needed. If a presenter has a messy lesson planned for the session they may ask you ahead of time if you would help them. Otherwise, simply float around to all stations and help out where needed. This could be a commitment of 3 or 6 weeks, your choice. 1 hour a week for 3-6 weeks! For all of those teachers at heart: we can use you too! We need presenters! Presenters are our teachers. You can pick from Bible Story, Art, Science, Video, Games, or Cookery. You commit to teach a lesson for 3 weeks. 3 weeks, thats it. You would actually teach for 40-45 minutes to 3 different age groups, one group each week for 3 weeks. You would need to allow yourself time to look at the lesson and familiarize yourself with it before hand. Its Fun, Its Exciting, Its a Minimum Time Commitment, and best of all Its Sharing God's Love and Grace with His Children! If this time isn't the best for your schedule, we start a new session every 6 weeks. Sign up for the time that's best for you! If Wednesday isn't the best time for you, we are also looking for Sunday School Subs to fill in through out the year. If you'd like to help in any of these ways, please feel free to contact the receptionist at receptionist@milanfirst.org, and we will direct your questions, concerns, or volunteer efforts to the appropriate person! We look forward to your help! | ||
